Newsletter - OCTOBER 2005
Events
The Fish and Chip quiz evening will take place again this year in the same format as last year. We have decided to continue with the same event as, over the years, this has been very popular and has become traditional.
The event will be held in the
We hope to make the questions relatively easy this year.
Carol Singing
This is another event which has been traditional over the years. Please note that this is not a fund raising event. We will not be knocking on doors for money or mince pies.
Good voices are not needed as we will be singing for our own pleasure only. The singing will start at
There is no need to book just turn up at
Bulb Planting
We hope to plant approx. 200 bulbs around the estate mainly at the entrance area on 23rd October. Please come to the entrance island to the estate, near the estate sign, at
Neighbourhood Watch
At the AGM on 12.5.05 our current Neighbourhood watch coordinator Jenny Buckmaster expressed a wish to stand down as coordinator. We now need someone who is interested in taking this on please contact Jenny Buckmaster on 020 8866 6554. Neighbourhood watch is important for the estate but we do need someone to act as coordinator. Please do contact Jenny if you feel you may be able to help.
For the best crime-prevention advice, talk to your local Crime Prevention Officer or contact the Neighbourhood Watch Office, Ruislip Police Station, The Oaks, Ruislip 020 8246 1825 or E-mail All@Hillingdonnhw.co.uk. It is disappointing to see some of the graffiti and damage in the walled garden and also the theft of the gate to the garden. Some of the committee will be drawing these problems to the attention of the council and encourage other residents to do the same. As November 5th approaches please remember to keep doors and windows locked when you are in the garden. Please also think about your neighbours when having garden firework displays
New Committee Members
We are currently 2 short of the 10 required committee members. Should you be interested in joining the committee please contact one of the existing members. The secretary will normally be happy to invite 1 or 2 guests to our meetings to give them an idea of what goes on prior to officially joining the committee.
As with most people the existing committee has limited time to spend on estate matters so additional members would help us do more. Joining the committee will improve your knowledge and contacts around the estate.
Whilst there is a certain amount of business for the committee to conduct, the meetings have proved to be friendly, interesting and enjoyable events. The Eastcote Park Estate Association is part of what makes our estate special so we do hope that more members will step forward.
The decisions on the best front gardens have been made. These will be announced at the fish and chip quiz evening.
Champagne prizes will be awarded to all winners courtesy of estate funds
Article 4 Direction
Further to the questionnaire circulated by the council we have requested information on the results. As yet there is nothing to report
Electronic Communications
Our WEB site and e-mail address are currently unavailable. We are looking for a volunteer to run either or both of these. Should you like to volunteer please contact Richard Maude. We have had no response to the appeal in the last newsletter so if anyone is interested please contact Richard. We are happy to pay for necessary training but you will need to discuss the cost before going ahead as we do have limited funds available.
Road Stewards Required
Our road stewards play a vital part in the existence of the Association. The tasks of the road stewards are to circulate newsletters and other leaflets (approx. 4 per year), to collect the subscriptions and to welcome new residents to the estate. There is a Road Stewards and Neighbourhood watch social evening in March every year to enable the volunteers to meet each other and also meet the committee. Should you be interested in carrying out this role please advise a member of the committee. You need not be restricted to your area of the estate.
