Eastcote Park Estate Association

 Newsletter- July 2003

Full Committee

Following the AGM on 2nd May we now have the full complement of ten on our committee. The names and contact numbers of the members are shown at the end of this letter. We welcome the new members and hope that, with continued support from others on the estate, we can have an active and successful period.

Autumn Event

This year’s event will take place on Saturday 15th November in St Lawrence’s Church Hall starting at 7.30 p.m. The event will be partly an historical evening with presentations on the history of the estate. The other part will be a buffet with wine and the opportunity to meet people who know about the beginnings of our estate.

Should you be interested please let either Margaret Bacon or Martin Hand know or e-mail the Association at the address shown under “Electronic Age”. Arrangements can be then be made for the appropriate number of people. Ticket prices and availability will be advised later but the price will be between £12.00 and £15.00.

Electronic Age

The committee feel that we should try to embrace information technology and seek benefits in communication with our members. Would any members of the association who would be happy to receive our newsletters electronically please e-mail the Web master, Tony Moore. The e-mail address is  epea@btinternet.com.

We will, however, continue to deliver a copy to all homes to ensure the messages reach everyone. This may be reviewed in time if members feel some of the hard copies are not needed.

Please include your name and address in the e-mail so that we know which homes can be reached by e-mail. We welcome multiple e-mail addresses.

We also remind you of the Association’s Web site. The address is http://www.eastcote-park.org.uk

This contains news of current events as well as a good deal of history on the origins of the estate. Please give it a try if you are able.

Payment of Subscriptions and Welfare for 2003

The  Road Stewards have now finished collecting for 2003. Should anyone not have paid but now wish to do so please pay by cheque directly to the Treasurer, Martin Hand, at 33 St Lawrence Drive. Cheques should be payable to: Eastcote Park Estate Association. Please remember to write your name and address on the back of the cheque. The subs remain at £2.50 with a further contribution for charity at your discretion.

Children’s Disco

The children’s disco is set to take place on Saturday 11th October 2003. The event will start at 3.00 p.m. and finish at 5.00 p.m. The age range is from 4 to 11 years old. The event will take place in the Methodist Church Hall.

Tickets will be priced at £4.00 and can be obtained by contacting Richard Green or Richard Maud after 1st September.

Thanks

Pat and Ron Cutts are shortly to leave the estate. Their contribution to our community will be very much missed. We would like, in particular, to thank Pat for all her efforts over the years. Pat’s work in organising the Jubilee street party last year was a notable success. We wish them both happiness in the future.

  Neighbourhood Watch

Volunteers to assist with neighbourhood watch came forward at the AGM. The Neighbourhood watch process will now be able to get back in gear.

Planning and Conservation

No Major issues at the moment. The council continues to develop proposals in respect of Eastcote House Gardens. The process of public consultation is underway with the public meeting on 15th July. Consideration is being given to the formation of a group of  "Friends of Eastcote House Gardens". If you are interested in supporting such a group please contact Mike Platts for further information.

It would be appreciated if those with new trees near their premises could find time to water them during the summer months. This should ensure their survival into the future.

Garden competition

All the gardens on the estate will be judged during July and August. The trophy for the best garden will be presented at the autumn event or at next years AGM.
