Eastcote Park Estate Association Newsletter - Summer 2004
Annual General Meeting This years Annual General Meeting took place on 20th May 2004 and was well attended. Extracts from the chairman’s address are published with this newsletter. The meeting agreed to retain Grangewood School as the beneficiary of our charity collection for a further 2 years. An increase in subscriptions for 2005 to £3.00 was also agreed. Events The plans for the "Grand Picnic in the Park" on 26th June did not go ahead. The chairman’s notes below cover the reasons for this. As it happens the weather would probably have been a problem this year. We are planning a fish and chip quiz evening for our autumn event. Details should hopefully be circulated during the summer. Planning and Conservation - ARTICLE 4 DIRECTION Please refer to the chairman’s notes circulated with this newsletter. Consultations are likely during the summer. All residents should have been advised directly by the council of the meeting on this issue on 6.7.04 at St Lawrence Church hall.
Best Garden Awards 2003 Well done to all the following: Best in Road: 16 The Glen 11 Bridle Road 20 St Lawrence Drive 48 Rodney Gardens 37 Field End Road 5 Robarts Close 7 Pamela Gardens Overall Winner 3 Burwood Avenue Judging for 2004 will take place shortly. Estate DVD A video of the estate was made by residents in 1997 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the Estate. The video gave an account of the history of the Estate from 1937-1997. This was done exceedingly well both by the residents (lead by the production coordinator Bill Gage) and with the assistance from some professionals. The video provides interesting details on the history of the estate. We feel this is a valuable record for any residents both from an interest point of view and is also a very good advert for our Estate. This video is now available in DVD format priced at £12.00. Please contact Richard Maude to order your copy. (Every home should have one).
New Committee Members Whilst we currently have an adequate number of members but we encourage potential new members to contact an existing member to discuss the possibility of joining the committee. We particularly need someone who would be willing to take on secretarial matters. This would be of particular help to your Association. The secretary’s role is an important one for the proper administration of the association’s affairs. Any person with the ability and willingness to take over this role would be made very welcome on the committee. Should you wish to know more about what is involved please contact Margaret Bacon.
Neighbourhood Watch The Chairman’s note includes several items concerning neighbourhood watch issues. Including a note that the phone number for the park wardens is 01895-239241 50 new Police Community Support Officers will have been allocated to Hillingdon. It is hoped that these patrolling officers will act as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour and under-age drinking within the borough. Residents are encouraged to report incidents of anti-social behaviour or crime hot spots to the Council, either by telephone 01895 556322 or by e-mail to the officer at mpatel5@hillingdon.gov.uk We remind members that bonfires should ideally be only lit between November and March and then during the evenings Our new beat officer is P.C. Micaela Holley who can be contacted on 0208 246 1818
